100 Years as a Province
Our Province of the Sacred Stigmata of St. Francis will celebrate its 100 anniversary at a
Mass on Saturday, September 7th at Immaculate Conception Parish in the Bronx.  All are
invited to the Mass.  Main celebrant will be Archbishop
Charles Chaput, O.F.M.Cap. and
joined by other bishops as well as the Minister General and mostly all of the friars from the
province.  

Provincial's Mother Dies
Mary Mormando, Mother of our Provincial Fr. Nick Mormando, passed away Saturday,
August 31.  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at Regina Pacis
Parish in Brooklyn.  May her soul rest in peace.

The friars at Immaculate Conception in Hendersonville recently moved into their new friary.  
It was blessed on March 6th.  The former friary had to be demolished.

100th Anniversary
August 25th will mark the 100th anniversary of Immaculate Conception Parish in
Hendersonville, NC.   At the Jubilee Mass celebrated by Bishop Peter Jugis of Charlotte, he
will formally install
Martin Schratz as Pastor.  Video

Ministries Relinguished
After many years of faithful service as Capuchin Friars, July saw the friars leaving three of
our parish ministries:  Most Holy Redeemer in Tampa, Fl and St. Thomas Aquinas and Our
Lady of Consolation in Charlotte, NC.  All the friars were reassigned within the Province.


1st Profession of Vows
July 28th our province celebrated three of our brothers pronouncing their temporary
profession of vows.  Having completed a year of novitiate

Capuchin for this celebration at Sacred Heart Oratory.

From October 23rd to the 28th the friars of the province gathered to celebrate their 15th
Provincial Chapter.  Elected as our Provincial Minister was

Florida Retreat
Eleven friars recently gathered at The Bethany Center in Lutz, Florida for a week
retreat.  During the week the friars gathered for prayer, liturgy, meals and some good
fraternal time.  The setting afforded plenty of quiet space and plenty of reminders of
God's beautiful work of creation.

Welcome novices
On July 24th three young men from our province doned the Capuchin habit and entered
into their novitiate year. A total of 22 new novices from North America are joined in one
central novitiate program in California.  From our province we welcome  
Travis White,
Edwin Zuluaga
and Freddy (Jose Auila DeSantiago).  Representing our province at the
ceremony were
Brian Tomlinson, Provincial Minister, and Michael Malloy.  Please keep
these young men in prayer during this intense year of preparation before professing vows
as a Capuchin Franciscan Friar.  God bless!!!

News from Wilmington and Ministry of Caring
The Ministry of Caring is in the midst of creating a residence to house Cap Corps. The
Province of the Stigmata in collaboration with St. Augustine Province is participating for the
first time in Cap Corps and establishing the first house in the Province in Wilmington,
Delaware.  Ministry of Caring created an updated webpage:

Capuchin Poor Clares - At the triennial chapter of the St. Veronica Giuliani Monastery held
on Saturday, July 16th, the following were elected to serve for three years:

New Parish Ministry
St. Gerard House - Under the leadership of Nick Mormando, pastor of Immaculate
Conception Parish in Hendersonville, recently opened was St. Gerard House a non-profit
ministry that offers evidence-based treatment for individuals with Autism Spectrum
Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral health needs.
In addition, we provided training, consultation, and support for families, educators,
institutions, and any others involved with the treatment or care of these individuals.  You

Congratulations
To our Capuchin Brother, Archbishop Charles Chaput who was named the archbishop of
Philadelphia.   Archbishop Charles is a Capuchin from the Province of St. Conrad.    


Congratulations Graduates

Neumann University on April 29th.

Robert Perez graduated from St. Charles Borromeo College Division summa
cum laude and an award in English literature on May 20th.

Lombardo D'Auria graduated cum laude from Belmont Abbey College with a
Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy on May 14th.

Robert Williams received his Master of Arts in Franciscan Studies from St.
Bonaventure University.
